Celebrating Fatherhood: Embracing New Roles in Family and Finance

This Father’s Day is an especially sentimental one for me. Being the father of two thriving young adults and now the newest addition to our family, my son-in-law causes pause for extra gratitude. It is with a tremendous amount of satisfaction that Allen & Company announces the successful recruitment and hiring of Lakeland native, Zach Wesche!

It took time, skill, and effort to finally bring this to fruition, despite the fact that he is my son-in-law.

The interview with our senior executive went something like this:  “Zach, if Allen & Company can source a local young professional like you with a Finance degree from the University of Central Florida, fully licensed with a Series 7, Series 66, and Florida 215 licenses who has been on a management track for the last years with Fidelity Investments, we will do whatever it takes to make you a part of our Allen Family. What do we need to do?”

It all began, frankly, with the unsuccessful recruitment of my daughter, Kelsey, as she was graduating from Florida Southern College.

I must admit it was a blow. But, she seems well suited to be the Marketing and Project Coordinator for one of the area’s most prolific commercial contracting companies. One day about three years ago, I came home exhausted from a trying weekend workout, and there he stood in my kitchen. I didn’t know it then, but that introduction to a handsome young man would begin to change the trajectory of our family.

Last summer I cried several times in front of other people as we rolled through the engagement party, the rehearsal dinner, don’t even get me started on the actual wedding at our church, and then culminating with the reception at Bonnet Springs Park.

The more I’ve “matured,” the more I’ve turned into that guy who gets emotional when speaking about family in front of a crowd. Put it this way. My brother, the news anchor, basically had to speak for me on multiple occasions. We think exactly the same way, and speaking for him is, well, easy.

Outside of work, Zach loves spending time with family and friends, golfing, and giving back to the Lakeland community.

Since 2018, he has been an assistant soccer coach at George Jenkins High School. Zach and Kelsey are involved with the United Way of Central Florida and the First Presbyterian Church of Lakeland. As a Financial Advisor, Zach will provide additional depth and breadth to the Elmhorst Group here at Allen & Company as we continue to grow our practice and strive to deliver an elite level of service with the highest acumen. Please welcome Zach Wesche to Allen & Company when you have the opportunity.

My role as a father has been one complete with equal parts joy and learning. This next chapter of fatherhood looks to be even more exciting and I couldn’t be more hopeful for what the future holds!
