Steve graduated Cum Laude from Santa Clara University in California with dual degrees in Finance and Economics. While at Santa Clara, he also competed on the university’s boxing team, channeling his discipline and competitive spirit.
He began his career in risk management at Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM), one of the world’s largest publicly traded agricultural firms. Over 11 years, Steve’s strategic financial planning helped drive earnings growth for ADM and supported his own professional development.
In 2003, Steve and his family relocated to Central Florida, where he transitioned into financial advising with a national brokerage firm. He joined Allen & Company in 2005, combining his business background and financial services experience to build comprehensive wealth management plans tailored to each client’s goals. An avid reader, Steve continually deepens his understanding of financial products and market trends, allowing him to serve a wide range of individual needs with clarity and confidence.
Steve’s eldest son, Hunter, a University of Florida graduate with a degree in Finance, joins the team as a Financial Advisor. Hunter holds the Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) designation and shares his father’s commitment to helping individuals and families build thoughtful financial strategies with a vision to support future generations.
A devoted family man, Steve credits his straightforward, no-nonsense approach to the values shaped by his Midwestern upbringing and life experiences. These principles guide how he lives, works, and connects with others.
In line with Allen & Company’s commitment to community, Steve coaches Little League, is active in the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce, and supports several nonprofits, including United Way. He and his wife, along with their four children, are members of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church.
Steve McTaggart holds the Series 7 and Series 66 registrations with LPL Financial. He also holds his life, health and variable annuities insurance licenses.
