VISTE Announces Allen & Company as Title Sponsor for 28th Annual Thanksgiving Meal Delivery Event

Lakeland, Florida – September 4, 2024– Volunteers in Service to the Elderly (VISTE) is a local, community-based, volunteer-driven, nonprofit organization providing services for over 40 years to seniors in need. The organization is excited to announce that Allen & Company, Florida’s Oldest Investment Firm, is the title sponsor of the 28th annual Thanksgiving Meal Delivery event.

VISTE and Allen & Company are enduring, community-focused brands deeply intertwined with the local landscape.

“We are incredibly grateful for Allen & Company’s unwavering support as the title sponsor again this year for our 28th Annual Thanksgiving event,” said Steve Bissonnette, President, VISTE. “Their commitment not only provides essential resources but also reinforces the deep sense of community that defines this family-friendly event, making it clear to our elderly friends and neighbors that they have not been forgotten, especially during this upcoming holiday season.”

The Thanksgiving meal delivery event, a popular local tradition, serves as a heartwarming prelude to the holiday season. It is a testament to the spirit of giving and the power of community.

“We’re proud to sponsor VISTE’s Thanksgiving meal delivery for the second year,” said Michael Walker, Vice President, Regional Operations, Allen & Company. “It’s a tradition that really resonates with us because it reflects our commitment to making a profound and positive difference in the communities we care about. Being part of something that brings joy to our seniors and brings people together during the holidays is truly special.”

Leading up to the event, there are several engaging activities for the community to participate in. The Green Bean Snap and “Operation Cranberry” create opportunities for everyone to contribute. Local schoolchildren lend their creativity by decorating meal bags and placemats spreading joy to those in need.

On the morning of the event, volunteers gather at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland to prepare and pack Thanksgiving meals. In the afternoon, hundreds of dedicated volunteer drivers, utilizing convenient drive-through lanes, collect the meals along with beautiful poinsettias and other treats. They embark on a heartwarming journey to deliver these gifts of nourishment and companionship to grateful VISTE clients.

About Volunteers in Service to the Elderly

Volunteers in Service to the Elderly (VISTE) is a local, community-based, volunteer-driven, nonprofit organization that provides services, and hope, to seniors in need. Founded in 1983, the mission of VISTE is to enable frail elderly persons to remain safely and independently in their own homes. Today, VISTE serves more than 4,000 seniors ages 70 and above who live in western Polk County, including Lakeland, Bartow, Mulberry, and Ft. Meade. Program services are offered based on need, including transportation, hot meals, supplemental groceries, in-home care, 24/7 emergency monitoring, and more. All services are provided free of charge because most seniors served are low or very-low income. At the same time, VISTE receives limited government funding and relies on the generosity and ongoing support of our local community through individuals, businesses, churches, civic groups, and many more.
