Have you ever noticed how life happens in “waves?” By waves, I’m talking about a window of time where you start to see so many friends and family become engaged, get married, or have babies! So many of us millennials are probably tracking somewhere on our third wave of marriages and the first or second wave of new babies. I am not a mother currently. However, I am in the middle of a “wave” of new babies, one of those new babies being my very adorable nephew, Nolan! Since we are in May, I wish a happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful moms, mother figures, moms-to-be, stepmoms, grandmothers, and great grandmothers.
To be honest, this day should be a month-long celebration considering all that mothers do regularly!
Today’s post is a simple one. I just wanted to take a moment a share some inspiring quotes for all the moms out there! Of course, you all do so much every day, so please use this post as a quick resource whenever you need a positive thought or affirmation to remind you of the magnificent role that you have as a mother in times when it may not always feel that way.
For the mom with a newborn:
“I can be covered in spit-up on a conference call while I’m pumping, and that’s OK because this is my perfect. It may not be somebody else’s, but this is mine.” – Kerry Washington
For the mom who feels like they’re the only one who doesn’t have balance:
“You don’t ever balance it completely. [Motherhood] is a constant struggle of a little more time there, a little more time here, and feeling a little bit guilty all the time.” – Halle Berry.
For the mom that needs to remember they are, in fact, very good:
“I have a feeling that I make a very good friend, and I’m a good mother, and a good sister, and a good citizen. I am involved in life itself – all of it. And I have a lot of energy and a lot of nerve.”
― Maya Angelou.
For the moms who are missing their sleep:
“Sleep at this point is just a concept. Something I’m looking forward to investigating in the future.” – Amy Poehler.
For the moms who are standing in their principles and finding some resistance:
“The one thing you’ve got to be prepared to do as a parent is not to be liked from time to time.” – Emma Thompson.
For the moms who need to remind themselves how far they have come:
“I’ve always been a confident girl, I’ve always felt sexy and intelligent. But after becoming a mother, the amount of (expletive) that you get done, you’re so impressed with yourself! It’s the most empowering feeling, because it makes you want to worry about the pettiness and trivial things a lot less.”- Kelly Clarkson.
For the moms who need a pump-up song:
“I am woman, I am fearless; I am sexy, I’m divine; I’m unbeatable, I’m creative; Honey, you can get in line,” – “I AM WOMAN” by Emmy Meli
Happy Mother’s Day, friends!
