LAKELAND — Polk County is once again set to receive a glimpse into its economic future.
The 29th Annual Economic Forecast Breakfast is Thursday at The Lakeland Center. The event — which covers economic trends in Central Florida, the rest of the state, and on the national level — is a partnership between the Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce and Allen & Company of Florida.
“The continued success of this event has everything to do with the expertise of our guest speakers,” said Keith Albritton, president and CEO of Allen & Company, via email. “Their prominence at both the regional and national level provide for a very well-rounded discussion on today’s economy.”
This year’s guest speakers are economists Brian Wesbury, chief economist for Illinois-based First Trust Advisors, and Tony Villamil, co-founder of the Washington Economics Group in Coral Gables.
Wesbury and Villamil have been the featured speakers for several years.
Rebecca Fortier, director of programs and events, said there is great value in bringing back speakers for return engagements.
“I think you develop a taste for how they present,” Fortier said. She added that each speaker typically addresses the predictions they made the year before. “There’s accountability there.”
Fortier said the two-hour event is also scheduled to include a Q&A session following Wesbury’s and Villamil’s presentations.
The Economic Forecast Breakfast begins at 7 a.m. and is open to the public. Tickets are $30 for chamber members and $35 for non-members.
